Katy Perry, 'Harry Potter' and Emma Stone take multiple People's Choice Awards

More than 200 million votes were cast for the 38th annual People's Choice Awards, and the big fan favorites in film, television and music took the stage to accept trophies on January 11.

The live televised ceremony in Los Angeles offers a chance for people -- not industry peers -- to play critic.

One of the first awards of the night went to actress Emma Stone, who won as favorite movie actress over fellow nominees Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and also took favorite comedic actress.

Maroon 5 took favorite band and Universal's Bridesmaids was selected as favorite comedy movie.

Robert Pattinson (Twilight Saga) accepted the award on behalf of Favorite Dramatic Movie Water For Elephants, in which he costarred with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz.

Favorite Movie Star Under 25 was Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, Hugo), who won over Harry Potter's cast Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Tom Felton.

Other multiple winners included Katy Perry, who won favorite female artist, song ("E.T." with Kanye West), music video ("Last Friday Night/T.G.I.F.") and tour. She was not present.

Also, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 was chosen as favorite movie, favorite action movie, favorite acting ensemble and book adaptation.

Favorite Comedic Mo! vie Acto r: Adam Sandler took the trophy over Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Steve Crrell.

Favorite Movie Icon: Morgan Freeman

In the music category, Favorite Album of the Year is Born This Way by Lady Gaga, Favorite Male Artist isBruno Mars, Eminem took hip hop artist, Rihanna won for R&B, and Demi Lovato won over Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Rihanna for pop singer.

Among the television awards, Favorite TV Comedy Actress was Lea Michele of Glee, and Favorite TV Comedy Actor was Neil Patrick Harris for How I Met Your Mother, which took favorite TV comedy.
