Katy Perry has cancelled her first post-divorce appearance.

The 'One That Got Away' singer was scheduled to attend the 2012 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on January 11 but has since pulled out of the event following her split from Russell Brand.

Perry announced the cancellation via her Twitter page on Monday (January 9), writing: "Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

She recently used the social networking site to thank fans for sticking by her during this difficult time, saying: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."

Perry is thought to be writing new songs about the split, while Brand has revealed that he missed his promiscuous past w! hile mar ried.

Moving vans were spotted at the former couple's Los Angeles home last week, though it was unclear whether it was Perry or Brand who would be leaving the estate.
