Katy Perry went through an on stage metamorphosis during her performance at the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards tonight (June 17).

The star started her big MMVA performance of Wide Awake as a cocoon. By the middle of the performance, she shed her outer layers and became a beautifulbutterfly. Quite appropriate considering the what the song is about.Tomorrows MMVA performance is inspired by Crazy Towns Butterfly & the 80s film Cocoon #metamorphosis, Katy said on Twitter prior to the performance.

Wide Awake is taken from Katy Perrys repackaged second album, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. It follows up her hit single, Part of Me, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Teenage Dream: The Complete Confectionis in stores and available at online retailers now.
