Katy Perry says she had a 'show must go on' mentality while performing during marriage troubles
Katy Perry saw her 1-year marriage to Russell Brand come to an end last year. While her marriage was crumbling, she was performing on her California Dreams Tour, which was a place she didnt want her personal troubles to get in the way.
"I love being onstage, and even though I went through some pretty tough times last year, I had to separate that because I know my problems are my problems and they are not the audience's problems," she told The Graham Norton Show late last week.
Perry says she got through it with a show must go on mentality.
"They are here to see a show and to be entertained, so I got on that lift, put a smile on my face and went up [onstage] with my t--s spinning!" she said.
Perrys past year, including the good and the bad, is documented in her upcoming concert film Katy Perry: Part of Me, which hits theaters July 5. She has said she wanted to include everything to show pop stars and celebrities arent as perfect as people may think.
I think sometimes people think that were perfect, and we know were not perfect, at all, she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month. I think its important [to] start breaking down the idea that, to achieve your dream, you always have to be perfect, or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world. Thats why I decided to put everything into the film, in the most tasteful way.
