Katy Perry will do an MTV First: Katy Perry television special on Tuesday, June 19, to premiere her new video for "Wide Awake." The clip, which takes place in a fairytale-like setting, will be shown at 7:53 p.m. EST, followed by an exclusive 30-minute interview with Katy and MTV's Sway Calloway on MTV.com. The "Wide Awake" video will also debut on VH1, Logo and TeenNick, in addition to MTV.com, VH1.com and LOGOtv.com. Perry's fans around the globe alsowill be able to stream the video at KatyPerry.MTV.com.

Speaking about her inspiration for the song and the video, Perry told MTV News, "I just wanted to tell a story about myself going through this journey, maybe sometimes trying to get out of the maze. There's good parts; there's bad parts. Of course, there has been a lot of things that went on last year that I had to get through and overcome. I think what probably kept me going is just the purity of my belief in music."

Meanwhile, Perry's 3-D concert film, Katy Perry: Part of Me, hits theaters on July 5. The projectis said to be a hybrid of live and documentary-style footagethat shows Perry's life on-stage and off-stage, la similar movies from the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. Lastly, Perry has been tapped to perform as part of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular in New York, along with Country star Kenny Chesney. The NBC special will air on Independence Day at 9 p.m. EST! .
