Katy Perry sparkles at Aussie premiere
Deafening screams and singing have greeted glittering pop star Katy Perry at the Australian premiere of her new movie documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me.
Hundreds of Perry fans, known as KatyCats, turned out to see the singer at the pink carpet premiere in Sydney on Saturday and Perry didn't let them down, spending time signing autographs and posing for photos.
Some of her fans dressed up for the occasion, wearing blue wigs or cat ears, while the singer herself sparkled in a gold sequinned Versace dress and silver Christian Louboutin heels.
Perry told AAP earlier she loves Australia and her fans both here and in New Zealand have always been so supportive.
"I wanted to go to a couple of special places to do premieres and Australia definitely was going to be one of them just because everyone's been so lovely to me," she says.
"I feel like I'm indebted to Australia."
At the premiere, her fans showed their support by breaking into renditions of hit songs like Firework and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).
Katy Perry: Part of Me will give them a behind-the-scenes glimpse at her life, charting the highs and lows on her rise to success.
As well as interviews and never-before-seen videos from her younger years, the movie features footage from Perry's California Dreams world tour.
A gruelling 124-date tour, it covered a time during which her career boomed to new heights, when she became the second person after Michael Jackson, and only female artist, to have five No. 1 hit songs on one album.
But it was also a year with some devastating personal impacts, with the movie touching on her break-up with husband Russell Brand.
On the pink carpet, the singer says while the movie covers a rollercoaster year or so, she hopes it's not the biggest time in her life.
"I hope I haven't peaked yet at 27. That would be a crying shame," she says.
As for the movie, Perry says there was one main thing she wanted to achieve.
"I just wanted to inspir! e people to live out their dreams and not have to change themselves in order to live out their dreams. They can just be themselves."
