Katy Perry to play Freddie Mercury's girlfriend?
According to The Mirror, Perry, 27, is being lined up to play Mary Austin alongside Sacha Baron Cohen's Mercury.
Filming for the project is apparently due to start next year, but Baron Cohen is said to already be working with remaining Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor on the movie.

A friend of Perry is said to have told the paper that she would be thrilled to land the role.
"Katy would love to be in the film as she is such a huge fan," they explained.
"Katy has a similar look to Mary and would be a brilliant foil to Sacha."
Mercury began dating Austin in the early 1970s before his band became famous and the couple spent the next six years together.
They separated after Mercury admitted he was bisexual, but despite relationships with several male partners, the singer always remained close Austin, calling her his "common-law" wife.
Austin frequently visited and comforted the star as he battled HIV, before he died of Aids-related pneumonia in 1991 aged 45.
"All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary," he once said in an interview. "But it's simply impossible."

Perry has often spoken of her love for Mercury, describing him as her 'musical idol'.
"I remember hearing 'Killer Queen' by Queen and falling down in what felt like slow motion in my bed listening to the lyrics," she said.
"I thought to myself, 'Oh my gosh, this music is incredible. These lyrics speak to me...' and that made me want to be what I am."
Perry even went as far as to dress up as the late singer at her birthday party last year.
The film is being produced by Academy Award winner Graham King, with producers having secured the rights to many of Queen's biggest hits.
Stephen Frears, who directed Oscar-winning The Queen, is reportedly tipped to direct the feature.
The plot will focus on Freddie's rise to fame, documenting the band's early days in 1971 and continuing through to their historic performance at Live Aid in 1985.
