Katy Perry 'Wide Awake' single artwork

Two years after its release and truth be told, we thought Katy Perry would have squeezed every last bit of juice out of her Teenage Dream album by now. That said, it's been one heck of a journey; and one that includes seven global smashes, a divorce and even matching a chart record set by Michael Jackson.

Billed as the final chapter of the era, 'Wide Awake' unsurprisingly sees Perry in reflective mode. "I wish I knew then what I know now/ Wouldn't dive in, wouldn't bow down," she insists over a blend of anthemic drums and fairytale piano courtesy of Dr Luke. "Thunder rumbling, castles crumbling/ I am trying to hold on," she continues; leaving us to assume that the next time we hear from her, it will a very different Katy Perry.
