Katy Perry shows off her cartoon nail art at concert film premiere in Japan

It was the beauty sensation of the London 2012 Olympic Games, and now Katy Perry is the latest in a long list of celebrities to get in on the nail art craze with a cartoon manicure whilst in Japan.

The pop star showed off her fun nails during an appearance at the Tokyo premiere of her concert documentary film, Katy Perry: Part of Me.

The quirky manicure was applied at the ES Nails salon in the Japanese capital, with each nail featuring a different cartoon face in the style of the animated MTV character Daria (who actually appears twice on Katy's left thumb and right forefinger).

The songstress even took to her Twitter account to declare her love for her new nail art. She tweeted: 'It doesn't get any better than hand painted DARIA nails by the girls at ES Nails TOKYO!'

Aside from the snazzy nails, Katy debuted a more natural look at the premiere, wearing a strapless silk ombre organza dress by Randi Rahm, purple heels, a wavy bob hairstyle and pared down make-up, which gets a huge thumbs up from us.

The singer is the latest in a string of famous faces who have tapped into the nail art trend. Seen on nearly every female athlete at the Olympic Games in London, we've also spotted statement manicures on the likes of Rihanna (whose included pictures of the faces of US presidents and the Queen as seen on bank notes), Kelly Osbourne (pink polka dots with bows) and Alexa Chung (clown faces) in recent weeks.
