Katy Perry Cries Before Watching Part Of Me

MANILA, Philippines Katy Perry made sure the personal bits about her failed marriage to Russell Brand made the final cut of her Part of Me film documentary.

The idea was to catch everything on film, said the Firework singer in a statement from local distributors of Katy Perry: Part of Me, the film is currently out in local cinemas.

While doing the California Dreams tour that incidentally ended in Manila, Jan. 22, Perrys marriage to the comedian/musician was falling apart. The curvy singer decided to share very personal details of the backstage drama.

Prior to watching the finished product for the gift time, Perry braced herself because she had to go through the drama that went into the final cut. Id already lived it once, so it was an abbreviated version of what I lived in a whole year, basically. And, of course, theres all that backstory.

She admitted to crying before seeing that part of herself on the big screen: I cried a little bit by myself before I watched it, just because it was an intense moment for me... and Ive been through so many intense things in the past year, coming out of that tour and overcoming personal obstacles.

Perry said it was crucial to be honest, just as her music mirrored most of her personal affairs.

The narrative is really about overcoming these obstacles of where I came from, who I wanted to be and my personal obstacle of what I had to get through. And now, Im still here and Im still standing.

She also felt she would not have been the same person today if it werent for the broken moments. I think it was important to me to leave in those scenes of me in distress. It was a difficult decision, and I get sweaty palms even thinking about it. Its the elephant in the room that I couldnt avoid or ignore, because it would be ignorant of me to think I could make a complete film without touching on it.

She hoped the public would see that it was a choice to exhibit integrity in revealing her vulnerability. And Ive always wanted eve! ry choic e I make to have integrity. Sometimes, thats not the easy choice, but hopefully, what people get from this is that they dont have to change who they are to fulfill their dreams. Thats what I believe and thats what Ive tried to do myself.

Viewers have seen inspiring success stories of pop stars over the years; Justin Bieber released his tour-grounded bio film last year.

It was Madonna, not Bieber, that have Perry the idea for Part of Me.

[I] was inspired by Madonnas documentary Truth or Dare. I loved her documentary and I loved seeing it, because I wasnt exposed to anything like that, really, when I was growing up.

But more than the rags-to-riches plot, the pop tart in Perry wanted to reveal the bitter side to her candy land.

Realizing that nothing sweet in pop success comes without some bitter experiences, she said, I hope that people will be inspired and get moving, and I hope that they will be encouraged to know that they dont have to change into something that they are not in order to succeed. My message is, Live a full life and reach your goals, however big or small they may be.
