His ex-wife Katy Perry is also having a turbulent time with her new bloke John Mayer.
The couple had a bust-up after the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
There were already rumours that Katy and John were on the rocks and they didnt do much to stop them as they attended a bash at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

A source said: John and Katy had been to dinner at Italian restaurant Madeo before going to the party and something had clearly gone on.
When they turned up to the Esquire event, Katy was walking well in front of John and it was clear they had just had a fight.
Inside, their tempers were both boiling and they eventually disappeared to have it out in a private room away from other party-goers.

At least that stopped the others at the party feeling like they were reliving their parents rows.
Since splitting from Russell at the end of last year, Katy has been in a relationship with Florence And The Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd before moving on to John.
Russell has been pretty busy and dated actress Isabella Brewster and Spice Girl Geri Halliwell before being snapped with student Aimee Levoir this week in Suffolk.
Katy and John, pictured top leaving Madeo, got together in June after hooking up at Soho House in West Hollywood.
They split briefly last month but were spotted back together a week later.
