Katy Perry compares life to a soap opera after divorce rumours sweep internet

Katy Perry has compared her life to a soap opera after sensational divorce rumours swept the internet yesterday.

Social networks were rife with speculation that the 27-year-old had filed for divorce from husband Russell Brand, 36, despite denials from their representatives.
Reports of the alleged split came just days after rumours that the couple, who were married in October last year, were trying for a baby.
This morning, the fed up singer ridiculed the wicked whispers, comparing her life to popular American soap opera All My Children.
The I Kissed A Girl singer tweeted: First I'm pregnant & then I'm divorced. What am I All My Children?!

She also likened herself to! the sho ws long-running and most popular character with the hashtag #ericakane.
Erica Kane, who is played by actress Susan Lucci, had a turbulent life in the soap, including being married at least ten times and having secret, long-lost-children.
It is unclear where the divorce rumour sprung from, however many outlets seem to credit US celebrity website TMZ with the scoop.

However, the sites lawyer and celebrity reporter Harvey Levin took to his Twitter page to clarify the situation.
He wrote: A news outlet saying TMZ posted a story Katy Perry is getting divorced," he tweeted. "We did not post such a storyjust made a call100% NO DIVORCE."

Amid the rampant speculation, Katy posted a picture on her Twitter page with the tongue-in-cheek caption Reunited at last.
The picture, however, was her having a cat nap with her beloved moggy Kitty Purry.
