Some people never thought this day would come, but it seems like John Mayer and Katy Perry are getting pretty serious.

After months of speculation and rumours, the two music artists made their first public appearance as a couple Wednesday night at the Broadway musical "A Christmas Story." The couple was all smiles as they posed for photos with many of the cast members, including a flock of eager children dressed in vintage Christmas party outfits, and the show's composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Perry even spent some one-on-one time with Santa himself -- when she wasn't right by Mayer's side, that is.

But this smitten duo also welcomed a third player on their date: John Mayer's dad, Richard. They took the Connecticut high school principal for dinner at the famous Sardi's restaurant before attending the show together, and he also posed with the cast members afterwards.

Last month, Perry took Mayer to her hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif., where it's rumoured that he met her parents and got the seal of approval.

But not everyone is so happy about their rekindled romance, after a summer whirlwind that saw them vacation together in Miami one week, and then split up less than a month later. And considering Mayer's less-than-flattering dating history, spurning women like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica Simpson, it's no wonder there are rumours floating around that Perry's ex-husband Russell Brand is not a fan of her new beau.

Nevertheless, Perry, 28, and Mayer, 35, looked like they were having a lot of festive fun on their date night. After all, it is "the most wonderful time of the year," and this reignited couple have cause to celebrate.
