Gym Class Heroes' Travie McCoy may have dated pop star Katy Perry a few years ago, however, following their break-up and her recent separation from husband Russell Brand, the rapper insists there are no reunion plans.
In McCoy's eyes, there is no need to keep in contact with the newly single Perry.
He told us: "Katy Perry was almost five years ago. Life has moved on to say the least. "I've not been in touch to be honest with you and I don't mean that in a malicious way. That situation was what it was and I have definitely moved on. When was the last time you spoke to your ex of five years?" Travie and his relationship with Perry hit the headlines on a regular basis both during and after the time they were lovers. At the peak of their romance in 2008, he was often referred to as the boyfriend who understood her lifestyle. (Daily Record)
The rapper also promised there was no bad blood between the both of them.
"It wasn't really nasty between Katy and I but I just choose to, kind of, you know, keep it moving, so to speak." Travie, who has just released new album The Papercut Chronicles II with his band, has moved on in many ways - as well as maturing in his musical sound, he has also found a new girl to keep him company. And it seems it's pretty serious - he misses her almost as much as his dog. "When I'm on tour I miss my dog and my girlfriend. Unfortunately there's a lot of flying required on this tour and my dog, a French bulldog called Stitch, can't really deal with flying. My girlfriend has a life as well, so she can't come out all the time, but she has been out before and hopes to come with me to Australia. She has her own schedule so I can't expect her to be chasing me all the time. We have mutual respect for each other's jobs and our time together is our time together. It's beautiful and being apart makes the heart grow fonder. When we see each other it's an event." (Daily Record)
Reports of Perry and Brand's separation emerged across media platforms last December.
Russell Brand has filed for divorce from Katy Perry ... TMZ has learned. In the docs, filed in L.A., Brand cites "irreconcilable differences." The two were married Oct. 23, 2010 in India. They have no kids. The divorce docs say there are "community property assets" -- it's a sign there might not be a prenup, or if there is one it doesn't cover all of the earnings and other assets they accumulated. The docs do not give a date the couple separated. (TMZ)
In the past, McCoy talked about dropping his notable Forgetting Katy Perry mixtape. Travie McCoy opened up about dropping his Forgetting Katy Perry mix tape. The music came from a place he's most familiar with. "Me, personally as an artist, I just write about my life. Unfortunately, that involves going through break-ups. Sometimes it makes for really, really good music and sometimes it makes for sad and depressing sh*t." While he has become accustomed to the constant prodding about his ex, he doesn't want the past to define him. "To an extent, I'm comfortable with discussing it, but when it becomes the main focus, I'm like, 'Aight, let's just keep going.' This sh*t is out for public consumption anyway. In the beginning it was our relationship, but after a while it turned into everyone else's relationship. On those gossip blogs, everyone has their views on our relationship. I'm over it."
