Katy Perry Says 'Chicken' Bomb Scare Delayed Manila Show
Katy Perry
MANILA, Philippines Now it can be told. A bomb scare solved the mystery that tested patience of thousands who came to watch Katy Perry perform last Jan. 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
Perry told Interview magazine recently that she had to be evacuated from the venue and was taken inside an armored car due to explosives threat caused by the arrival of a suspicious backpack backstage.
Bulletin Entertainment covered the event, the first major concert by a foreign act in 2012, and was among those who waited for two hours before Perry finally showed up on stage past 10 p.m. The show was supposed to start at 8 p.m.
Perry opened up to Interview: You know those bomb-sniffing dogs? They were everywhere. They started sniffing out this backpack that was near my dressing room.
The delay and the ensuing paranoia reduced the Firework singer to tears. Well, they had to put me in an armored car, and I think I started crying at one point because I was just so overwhelmed.
All that security brouhaha, which took a lot of time to resolve, finally led to the opening of the backpack, which contained.... drum rolls please.... chicken!
Perry added, But we came to find out at the very end that it was chicken in the backpack that the dogs were sniffing and not something else... We call it the chicken bomb now.
