SHE kissed a boy and didn't like it, so now she's moving on to another.

Pop star Katy Perry should be sobbing in a heap after her recent divorce from actor Russell Brand, but thanks to a new album, an edgier image and some smokin' arm-candy, she appears to be having the time of her life.

This week the 27-year-old caused eyebrows to be raised after she was snapped at Paris Fashion Week alongside model Baptiste Giabiconi.

Th! e gorgeo us Frenchman, who just happens to be the world's highest-paid male model, sat next to the singer, who is now sporting bright blue hair, at the much-anticipated Chanel show.

And although the pair have not confirmed they are officially dating, they were happy to be photographed with Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, and later ate dinner together with a group of friends.

It's the first time that Perry has been seen in the company of another man since her highly publicised split from Brand.

And while the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor is moving on, reportedly dating a brunette he met at his Hollywood yoga studio, so is Perry it seems.

"If they are dating, then high-five to her," says Anne Hodder, editor of LA Weekly's After Dark website. "Who wouldn't want to rebound with the world's hottest male model? Katy's a world-revered pop star and going through a divorce in the public eye, so she deserves to enjoy herself.

"There's no doubt she's hurting inside, but honestly there's no sexier Band-Aid than Baptiste. He's probably not going to be her next long-term love, but that's not the point. She's clearly sending a signal to the world that she's ready to move on and enjoy life as a single girl in the spotlight."

Perry wed 36-year-old Brand in India in October 2010, but their union lasted little more than a year after he filed for divorce last December. Soon afterwards he moved out of their Hollywood mansion, vowing not to chase any of his former wife's $US55 million fortune.

The dramatic split was played out in the press, but doesn't seem to have dented her popularity. The Firework singer was declared the 14th highest earner in the music industry by Billboard magazine last week, and has the world at her feet.

But while her level of superstardom may come complete with a bursting bank account and a luxury lifest! yle, it can also bring immense pressure.

William Peterson, a music executive at King Cake Media in LA, says that all Perry needs to do now is keep pumping out good music. "She's tremendously talented and her entire last album was a great listen, as her sales certainly showed. The challenge is how to maintain that level of relevancy and sales success in the face of seemingly ever-decreasing consumer attention spans, and the fact that people consume media differently now," he explains.

"More than anything else, great songs are still what build, maintain and take careers to the next level. If Katy continues to put out fantastic material that connects with fans, she has a great leg-up on her competition."

Like many performers she relies on her fans to support her through the good - and the bad - times. Post-split, Perry told her 16 million Twitter followers: "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."

In fact, if ever there was any doubt as to how the girl from Santa Barbara is feeling in the wake of her divorce, the answer might just be found in the lyrics of one of the new songs on her latest album, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.

The album has 12 tracks from her original Teenage Dream album including California Gurls, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) and The One That Got Away, plus three news songs including Wide Awake, which hints at how happy she is to be without a partner.

There's been much speculation that Perry is talking about her ex, as she muses about not needing a man to feel whole: "Falling from cloud nine/ Crashing from the high/ I'm letting go tonight ... / I'm not losing any sleep/ I picked up every piece/ And landed on my feet/ Don't need nothin' to complete myself."

LA-based entertainment reporter Sean Borg says: "Russell was always seen as the bad boy in the relationship, but it may have been the other way around. She liked to party, but because he! 's sober , he was a lot more level-headed and I think he simply grew tired of her ways."

But you don't get to the top of your profession without serious ambition and endless reserves of inner strength to draw on. Aside from cancelling an appearance at the People's Choice Awards in Hollywood in January, she seems to have coped pretty well with adjusting to life as a single girl. She has spent plenty of quality time with her friends, who include the singer Rihanna, and has been busy completing her world tour.

And intriguingly, just like Rihanna, who is soon to be seen in the movie Battleship, Perry is also setting her sights on films.

Her concert movie, Katy Perry: Part Of Me, is due out this summer but she's apparently on the hunt for dramatic roles.

"She's looking at scripts right now, so I think she'll try her hand at acting," says Borg. "She needs to find out who she really is, so I think the next year will bring a big change for Katy."

As they say in entertainment, the show must go on.
