Katy Perry to perform at Grammy Awards

Announced Wednesday, American pop star Katy Perry will perform at the 54th Grammy Awards on February 12 in a live telecast event airing from Los Angeles.

The Grammys, the music industry's top star-studded awards bash, will also feature performances from Adele, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Rihanna, the Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, and Taylor Swift.

Also announced Wednesday, country artist Dierks Bentley, rapper and current four-time Grammy nominee Drake, singer Miranda Lambert, and actress Gwyneth Paltrow will appear as presenters.

Iconic US band The Beach Boys stated in December that they expect to appear at the Grammys ahead of a 50th anniversary reunion tour, although they were not included in the lineup so far put out by Grammy organizers.

Perry has sold more than 11 million albums worldwide. Her third album, Teenage Dream, has boasted six top ten hit songs. The singer is up for two awards at the ceremony, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework."

Other major music awards include the AMAs and People's Choice, which fans vote for. The UK presents the Brit Awards and Canadians have the Juno.
