Katy Perry & Russell Brand Finalise Divorce

09:24, Thursday, 9 February 2012

Katy Perry and Russell Brand's divorce will become official on 14th July, after it was finalised yesterday (8th February).

According to AP, the Teenage Dream hitmaker and Brand were granted a divorce by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro - with records showing all three parties had signed off on the judgement.

However, Perry and the comedian will have to wait another six months before their divorce becomes official - something Californian law requires couples to do after filing papers.

The AP also claims that court documents have asked for Katy's maiden name - Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson - to be restored.

Perry and Brand are thought to have already settled the financial aspects of their divorce, with the Get Him To The Greek actor apparently not seeking any of his estranged wife's rumoured $20million fortune.

Despite Californian law stating that Brand is entitled to half of Katy's estate as they did not sign a pre-nup, TMZ reports that Russell will not exercise this right.

A source revealed:"This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a [good person]."

Brand filed for divorce from Perry last December, citing "irreconcilable differences" as his reason for ending their 14-month marriage.

Earlier this week, the I Kissed A Girl star is thought to have removed reporters from the red carpet at a Super Bowl event, with insiders stating that Katy is 'not ready' to discuss her split from Russell.
