Katy Perry to perform at Grammy Awards, Paul McCartney event after Russell Brand split

Katy Perry, who has laid low since her split from husband Russell Brand, is scheduled to give her first major performances following her split from Russell Brand, who filed for divorce more than a month ago.

Perry, 27, has been confirmed to sing at the 2012 Grammy Awards, which is set to take place in Los Angeles on February 12 at 8 p.m. ET and air on CBS. The singer is also set to perform on February 10 at the MusiCares Person of the Year Ceremony, which will pay tribute to Paul McCartney and feature other performers such as Tony Bennett, Coldplay and Neil Young.

McCartney, the 69-year-old former member of the iconic British rock group The Beatles, is also set to sing at both events, the Recording Academy, w! hich vot es on the Grammy winners, said in statements to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Wednesday, February 1.

Perry was slated to appear at the 2012 People's Choice Awards on January 12 but canceled the planned appearance soon after Brand filed for divorce. Despite her absence, she swept the awards show, winning the awards for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Song of the Year, Favorite TV Guest Star and Favorite Tour Headliner.

After her husband filed for divorce, the starlet made her first U.S. public appearance on January 27. She co-hosted the opening of the 1 OAK club at the Mirage hotel in Las Vegas.

The singer, known for her colorful looks and outfits, debuted bright blue hair and wore a black cocktail mini dressat the event, which benefitted the GiveLove charity. The group was co-founded by actress Patricia Arquette and develops temporary housing solutions and improved sanitation systems in Haiti for survivors of the 2010 earthquake.

Rapper and "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor LL Cool J is hosting the 2012 Grammy Awards ceremony. Katy Perry is up for two awards: Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework." She has never won a Grammy before but has been nominated for one several times in the past.

Brand, a 36-year-old British actor and comedian, filed for divorce from Perry on Dec. 30, 2011. Perry, a native of California, performed at the 2011 Grammy Award ceremony, during which she debuted never-before-seen footage of her wedding to Brand as she sang her ballad, "Not Like The Movies."

PAUL MCCARTNEY HONORED

Aside from Perry and McCartney, artists and bands set to perform at the Grammy Awards include Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay and Rihanna, Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, Glen Campbell with The Band Perry and Blake ! Shelton, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars.

On Tuesday, the Recording Academy announced that British superstar Adele would be performing at the Grammy Awards, marking her first performance live in almost five months since undergoing surgery on her vocal cords, which prompted her to cancel a sold-out U.S. tour.

Adele has two Grammys under her belt and is nominated for six this year. She and Perry are both competing for the award for Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. (Check out a full list of nominations for the 2012 Grammy Awards).

McCartney has won 14 Grammys, most of which were given for his work with the iconic rock group The Beatles. In addition to his MusiCares honor, the British singer is also set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 9.

McCartney, who married for the third time last year, is one of two surviving members of the Beatles. The other is Ringo Starr. The 71-year-old received a star in February 2010 (see video). McCartney is the fourth and last member of the band to get his name immortalized on the Walk of Fame. A star honoring The Beatles as a group was also installed in 1998.

McCartney's star will be located at 1750 N. Vine Street, near those of his former band mates, in front of the Capitol Records building. A special committee selects which celebrities are eligible for a star, which costs recipients about $30,000.

McCartney was also one of the recipients of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors, given for his lifetime contribution to American culture, and has also won the Gershwin Prize from the Library of Congress.
