Katy Perry is donating proceeds from her new single to charity.

The 27-year-old singer will give the profits from download sales of her current track 'Part of Me' to the MusiCares organisation, which provides financial, medical and personal assistance to musicians in need.

She tweeted: "My proceeds of #PARTOFME from ITUNES & others will go to one of my favorite charities for the arts, MUSICARES; (sic)"

The move comes after Katy also offered a signed guitar for auction in aid the GRAMMY Charities, MuisCares and the Grammy Foundation.

Bidding on the instrument currently stands at $1,500 and closes tomorrow (16.02.12).

Other lots on offer at the auction, which can be found at ebay.com/GRAMMY include VIP lounge tickets to the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals; guitars autographed by Jeff Beck, Coldplay,Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Slash, and signed memorabilia from Adele, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton and Usher.

The highest bid currently stands at $6,700 for a Ukelele signed by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and a copy of his solo album 'Ukelele Songs'.

The lots have varying closing dates, but the final bids auctions close on February 23.
