The heckler kept shouting Perry's name at Brand while he was performing at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, according to ABC News. In the video, which can be seen below, Brand asks that the light be turned up so! that he can see the heckler.
"Let's see you, mate. Let's see how your mental illness looks in the daylight," Brand said after he jumped off stage. "It's you, is it? Oh, dear. I was hoping that your personality was as a result of physical beauty. I thought, 'this guy's confident probably because he's incredibly handsome,' but look at you! You look like someone who's fallen off the outside of a church."
Brand and Perry reached a divorce settlement in February. The 27-year-old pop singer and 36-year-old British comedian and actor "entered into a comprehensive written settlement of all issues," according to court documents filed at a Los Angles court on February 7. The divorce is expected to be finalized in August.
Brand filed for divorce on Dec. 30, 2011, citing irreconcilable differences. He and Perry have no children. According to her filing, the singer has asked to restore her maiden name to Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson and also does not want the court to have any jurisdiction to award Brand any spousal support.
Perry, the daughter of California Evangelical pastors, married Brand on October 23, 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, India, where he also proposed to her. Their divorce papers do not specify when they split.
Brand continued to mock the heckler on May 5 saying, "And what is it that you have rattling inside of your mind? Some bizarre combination of alcohol and idiocy, some cocktail of nothing, and yet the confidence to continue shouting."
Brand's rant lasted several minutes and the comedian also took aim at the heckler's physical appearance and sexual abilities.
"I know on some level, des! pite you r physical appearance to an ape, that you're a human being," he said.
Photos surfaced late last month of Perry in a new romance with Robert Ackroyd, a British guitarist for the indie pop band Florence + the Machine. The pair were seen kissing at the Coachella music festival in Indio, California.
According to a report from the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Brand reacted to the photos by sending an email to Perry admitting he gave up on their marriage too soon.
