RUSSELL Brand has opened up about his feelings for his soon to be ex-wife Katy Perry, insisting he has nothing but love for the pop star despite their split.

The 36-year-old English comedian filed for divorce from Perry at the end of 2011 after 14 months of marriage, but refuses to speak ill of his former partner.

In a pre-taped interview with US chat show host Ellen DeGeneres, which will air in America on Thursday (today AEST), Brand says, "I still love her as a human being, but, sometimes when you're in a relationship, I suppose it doesn't work out.

"That doesn't mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her ... That is still a person I still consider to be beautiful and I have nothing but positivity for her.''

Brand and Perry reportedly reached a settlement in February and their divorce is expected to be finalised in July.
