Is John Mayer Using Katy Perry To Get Closer To Rihanna?
SplashIf anyone deserves a little luck in the love department, it's Katy Perry. Which is why we were shocked to hear that some sources are claiming her nea beau John Mayer is using her... to make Rihanna jealous.
Really?
The Enquirer are claiming that, while John Mayer may have won Katy Perry, she wasn't his first choice - he originally wanted to date her BFF Rihanna! According to sources, he met the S+M star back in 2009 but, despite his best efforts, he couldn't convince RiRi to leave with him:
They really hit it off... John was smitten. He tried to lure her back to his place on seeral occasions, but Rihanna just laughed him off, saying she wasnt his type. That only made him want her more. Rihanna has ALWAYS been a fantasy chick for John
The source continued to explain that Mayer tried again to score a date with Rihanna as early as last year and that it was only after she turned him down (again) that he allowed his attention to drift to Katy Perry:
Katy has no idea just how hard he tried to score with Rihanna... Now, her pals are worried shes headed for heartache.
As if.
This story is absolutely ridiculous. Firstly, Katy Perry was still married (and happily so) to Russell Brand at the time of John meeting Rihanna, so we doubt the not-so-single singer would have even been on his radar.
And, as for trying to make Rihanna jealous, is there no chance at all that MAYBE John mayer just likes Katy perry for herself? After all, she is newly single, hugely successful and an absolute stunner; she's got a lot more going for her than just being the route to Rihanna's pants heart.
