Katy Perry to play Marilyn Monroe on Broadway?

London, Nov 26 : Oscar-Winning Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein wants Katy Perry to play Marilyn Monroe in a Broadway musical based on his latest movie.

The film My Week with Marilyn starring Michelle Williams as the screen icon is based on the memoirs of Colin Clark.

Clark had spent a week with Monroe in the year 1957 when she was in the UK filming The Prince and the Showgirl with Sir Laurence Olivier.

However, Weinstein wishes pop star Perry to play Marilyn Monroe in the stage adaptation.

If My Week with Marilyn is successful, at some point, five years, ten years from now, I think Katy would be perfect to play Marilyn Monroe ... on Broadway, sing those songs, do the dances, the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

While Weinstein believes that Williams had performed brilliantly in the movie yet for musical he proffered I Kissed A Girl singer to play the iconic beauty.

I mean Michelle could do it. Michelle is so good she could do it live, if she ever wanted to do it. I dont know if she would ever want to revisit it, but Katy would blow it out of the universe, and thats the kind of Broadway show Id like to make, Weinstein added.
