Katy Perry receives achievement award at 2011 American Music Awards

Katy Perry has received an achievement award at the 2011 American Music Awards.

Heidi Klum took the stage to introduce Perry, who performed her latest single 'The One That Got Away'.

Perry was clad entirely in pink and illuminated by a pink ray of light for the duration of the performance. At the end of the song, Klum revealed that Perry had earned a special achievement award for having five number one singles from the same album, her second longplayer Teenage Dream.

"Can I just say thank you so much for letting me be a chameleon this year?" Perry said on accepting the award.

She added: "I love all my fans and it's been amazing."

Perry is nominated for 'Artist of the Year', 'Favourite Female Artist in Pop/Rock' and 'Favourite Artist in Adult Contemporary'.

The 2011 American Music Awards continue on ABC.
