Selena Gomez: Katy Perry Helped Me Believe In True Love
Selena Gomez said she believes in love, and is giving credit to Katy Perry for helping to affirm that belief.
Straight off a painful and very public split from longtime boyfriend Justin Bieber, Gomez said that she still believes true love can exist, but is now more of a realist about relationships.
In an interview with Harpers Bazaar, Selena Gomez said that the intense media scrutiny definitely hurt her relationship with Justin Bieber, it wasnt the final factor in them splitting up.
It was, but thats not a factor for me because unfortunately you cant control that, she explains. To me, love is normal. Of course, you see [Jay-Z] and Beyonc, and youre like, Oh, my gosh, theyre perfect for each other, but at the end of the day their love is just like everybody elses love. They have problems, Im sure, and they solve them, like anybody else.
Gomez said that she and Bieber tried as hard as they cold to be like anybody else. She said trying to achieve some normalcy was super important to both of us. Which was greatThats how it should be.
Even though the relationship came to an end, Selena Gomez said she still believes in true love. Her recent outing with Katy Perry helped solidify that, she added.
I went out with Katy Perry last night, Gomez said. Shes so fun and awesome, but its cool to see someone older believe in love, too. She is all about it, and thats how I will always be. I believe in stories like, Oh, I met him in Starbucks.
Though Selena Gomez may be a strong believer in true love, it appears that the actress and singer has some use for heartache. Gomez is apparently using the split with Bieber as inspiration for her upcoming album, NDTV reported.
Its not clear if the album will strike a vengeful tone or stick to the singers brand of upbeat, positive songs. But if she does waver from her commitment to true love, Selena Gomez could always spend some more time with Katy Perry.
