Katy Perry And John Mayer Breakup: A Hot N Cold Timeline

Sometimes the best way to deal with a broken heart is by laughing. And since news broke that Katy Perry and John Mayer reportedly broke up again, Perry has been keeping fans up-to-date on what she's been up to in a post-Mayer world. And it seems that her new man is funnyman Mike Myers.

On Tuesday, the same day their split made headlines, Perry tweeted, "About to watch Wayne's World. For the first time..." While it's anyone's guess if her viewing of the 1992 comedy has anything to do with her rumored split, in the last few weeks Perry's tweets seem to hold some clues about the end of their romance.

She's found some new distractions, including music by country singer Kacey Musgraves and British singer/songwriter Daughter. On Monday, another hint popped up that something had changed in her life when she wrote, "ATTENTION: Mercury is OUT of retrograde today. Thank GOD."

While it's unclear when Perry and Mayer split, following Perry's Twitter may offer up some insight. On March 2, she tweeted, "My boyfriend is taking me to a kitten shelter in his truck. I can't think of a more perfect Saturday." But by March 10, she shared, "Chiropractor, Therapist, a hike, and a psychic reading. Come on Monday, give me your best shot."

And the news of their b! reakup comes five weeks after Perry revealed to MTV News that the lovebirds were cuddling up with some sensual tunes from Miguel. "Oh my God, Miguel. I am such a fan of you. I love your song so much. My boyfriend and I listen to it all the time. He actually turned me on to it," she shared when we introduced the two singers at the Grammys, which Katy and John attended together.

That same month, Mayer opened up about his relationship in an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning." He said, "For the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship... I know it's high-profile. It doesn't feel that way to me. For me it feels like something that's very human."

However, prior to their Miguel listening sessions and public declarations of love, it had been a bumpy road for Mayer and Perry.

The couple first made headlines in June 2012. But they remained under the radar until they were photographed together leaving the Chateau Marmont in August. Only weeks after the photo was snapped, the couple split suddenly, ending their summer fling in late August. They were back together again shortly after, in early September, phot! ographed ! on the town with one another.

Their second go at love then lasted about five months. During it, the pair attended public events together like the Grammys and went on high-profile dates, including being photographed at Broadway shows together. In the end, though, it seems their busy schedules came between them. Mayer is set to announce a summer tour this week, and Perry is reportedly working on new music.

After they hadn't been seen out together in several weeks, friends close to the couple confirmed the split on March 19. "It's sad," a pal told Us Weekly. "It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out."
