President Barack Obama is quite the popular politician amongst superstar celebrities including Beyonce, Jay Z and Gwyneth Paltrow, who are all falling over their feet to be pals with him, and now it looks like Katy Perry wants a piece of the action.

Never being short of glamour throughout his presidency, what with his stylish wife Michelle Obama on his arm and the likes of Beyonce Knowles being the 'role model' for his kids, Katy Perry is now sucking up to the President with her fashion credentials.

The 'Firework' hitmaker performed at a rally and concert that attracted 13,000, where she opened up the Las Vegas gig with a rendition of Al Green's soul hit, and one of Obama's favourite's, 'Let's Stay Together,' in an obsequious dress.

She said: ''Don't wait. Go tomorrow. How many of you are 18 he! re? It's going to be your first time, right?''

The form-fitting latex number was revealed when a male dancer pulled another outfit off her after the first song, and showed off her trim and toned figure as she teamed the frock with red Mary Jane heels and her purple tinged black locks worn in a wavy style.

Katy performed as the president and her 91-year-old grandmother beheld the gig from the crowd, and the singer seemed to have loved the entire experience.

She tweeted that night: ''So tonight was a great night! The PRESIDENT gave grandma and I unforgettable shout outs & now I am officially 28! Best. birthday. Ever.''
