Katy Perry may face indecency charge in India

Katy Perrys performance at an Indian cricket match in April may get her charged with indecency.

According to MTV News, Perry was one of the performers at the opening of the Indian Premier League when she asked Australian pro cricketer Doug Bollinger on stage to help her with her cricket swing. Bollinger stood behind Perry to show her the proper technique.

Lawyer K. Jebakumar, who was in attendance, was offended by the display and by the suggestive dancing that followed and filed a claim with Madras High Court, saying that Perry and Bollinger violated Indias Representation of Women Act.

The court will hold a hearing on July 31 to decide whether Perrys performance was obscene and lascivious, appealing to prurient interest," according to Yahoo. Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra and Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla are also cited in the complaint.

If the court rules that the complaint is justified, the court can file charges against Perry and the others named in the suit.
