Fans may be upset over news that Beyonc lip synced during the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21, but celebs like Katy and Jennifer Lopez are rushing to the singers defense, with Katy even claiming there wasnt any lip syncing involved! Read on to find out what they all have to say!

With Beyonc surrounded by controversy following the Marine Corps band statement claiming she lip synced her performance of the National Anthem during President Barack Obamas second inauguration on Jan. 21, fans have become upset with the singer. But fellow singers like Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez have risen to Beys defense, pointing out that all singers lip sync at one point or another!

J.Lo appeared on The Daily Show on Jan. 22, where host Jon Stewart asked her about the drama. She said, In certain venues and stuff, they do prerecord thi! ngs, beca! use youre going to have that terrible slapback. Jon, clearly confused by the term, replied, Sure. Slapback. She added, All performers do have to do it at some point.

LeAnn Rimes visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the same night, where she faced similar questions. The country star also defended Beyonc, albeit in a rather convoluted way. She argued that it may not have been the singers decision. Im actually taking up for her on this one, LeAnn said. There are times when people will ask you to do it, and they will not let you do it unless you do it because they want control over what happens.

While J.Lo and LeAnn defended the lip syncing, Katy confusingly offered a different explanation. When asked by X17Online.com if she had a comment on the controversy, the Firework singer simply said, She didnt lip sync. Huh?

Beyoncs former Destinys Child bandmate Michelle Williams spoke in favor of her friend to Entertainment Tonight, saying, I will say this, its not the first or the last time that someone has had to lip-syncmy greatest singer of all time, Whitney Houston, it came to light that her anthem was in fact lip-synced.

She added, Its their personal preference. With big crowds and echoes, you know when its a big historical moment, you dont want any room for any mistakes so I can understand why it was done.

Aretha Franklin Finds Beyoncs Lip Syncing Controversy Funny

Aretha Franklin laughed off the controversy with ABC News, saying, I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is! just not! good singing weatherWhen I heard that I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record.
