Katy Perry: 'Winning an Oscar for Wide Awake would be a dream'
The singer's track 'Wide Awake' is in contention to be shortlisted in the 'Original Song' category at the 2013 Academy Awards, after it was written for her first concert movie Part of Me 3D.
"It's like a dream's dream," Perry told USA Today of the possible nomination. "When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere."
She added: "This would be a nomination of a completely different calibre. One that is more impressive than many other ones I've had.
"It's interesting to step out of your playing field and to be recognised from a different angle. It would be an honour."
The Academy will announce the five shortlisted songs, along with the rest of the nominations, at a ceremony on January 10.Adele's 'Skyfall' and Florence + the Machine's 'Breath of Life' are among the other tracks in contention to be shortlisted.
