Katy Perry: 'Winning An Oscar Would Be A Dream'
As awards season approaches, Katy Perry has been voicing her excitement not at a Grammy nomination but an Oscar nod!
The singer'strack 'Wide Awake' is in contention to be shortlisted in the 'Original Song' category at the 2013 Academy Awards, with the final nominations announced on January 10.
The track was written for Katy's box office hit concert movie 'Part of Me 3D'.
"It's like a dream's dream," the star told USA Today of the possible nomination. "When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere."
She added: "This would be a nomination of a completely different calibre. One that is more impressive than many other ones I've had. It's interesting to step out of your playing field and to be recognised from a different angle. It would be an honour."
The Academy will announce the five shortlisted songs, along with the rest of the nominations, at a star-studded ceremony on January 10.
Katy could have tough competition if she does receive a nod though with Adele's 'Skyfall' and Florence + the Machine's 'Breath of Life' among the other tracks in the battle to be shortlisted.
'Suddenly' a new song penned for the film adaptation of Tom Hooper's 'Les Miserables' is also a favourite to be nominated following the movie's huge success at the US box office this week.
